Description:

Try this unique and gourmet pomegranate tree, the Angel Red. It is a heavy bearing variety that is also soft seeded, making it palatable and pleasing to eat. The Angel Red bears in early September before many other pomegranates, treating you to fruit that is uniform in size and color. Color is bright red, making for great looking juice and some good color possibilities in your fruit bowl or decorating. Pomegranate trees are hardy to USDA zone 7 and all higher zones, and can also take lots of full sun and heat. 5Very HealthyApr 04, 2011
By Sarah
Finally, an online nursery that sells plants in pots with their original soil. My pomegranate arrived in perfect, healthy condition. Like I'd just brought it home from a garden store, not like it'd been transported hundreds of miles. The pot was bagged so no mess. I am beyond thrilled :D

Shipping price is very steep, but unavoidable when shipping that much dirt I guess. They use large pots, which means no stunted roots.

One minor thing to note though, the dirt it came in was very loose, so it was impossible to remove it from it's pot without ALL the dirt coming off its roots. This was a bit of a shock, but I'm now rather pleased because it allowed me to spread it's roots out nice when I planted it. I just made a dirt mound nearly even with the middle of the hole I'd dug for it and set the top of the root ball on that allowing its longer roots to cascade down.

***1/5/12 UPDATE***
This Pomegranate not only survived, it *thrived* during the Texas drought of 2011, a drought so sever many parts of the state didn't see rain for nearly a year! It grew about two feet, and even bloomed (the blooms are red and look much like hibiscus flowers) though didn't fruit, of course; I heard you have to wait to around year 3 for fruit set? Anyway, it was planted in full sun in well over 100* temps and never even flinched.
I plan to further update on how my Pome fairs through the winter and comes back this spring...

***5/19/12 UPDATE***
Angel Red Pome survived the winter well, having already bloomed again and over doubled in size. However, I'm not quite satisfied that this winter was a true test of it's ability to weather the 7b/8a zone, as it was unusually mild (the roses bloomed in November and the Lantana came back on it's own old wood, unheard of here). We did one or two good freezes though, so maybe it was enough. Will update if anything changes.

5Awesome PlantNov 14, 2012
By Corey L. Daniels
I was hesitant to buy a plant via internet but this plant was shipped on time and intact. A few blooms fell off but I did manage to get one pomegranate same season as delivered. My plant is much bigger and still thriving! Thanks Monrovia!

Hass avocado goes well with Fuerte.
